Regional Conference of Youth (RCOY) is an event under the umbrella of YOUNGO, the official youth constituency at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), it is organized prior to the GCOY across the world, in order to localize the climate conversation and gather more inputs from
the ground. RCOYs discuss and develop respective outputs, which feed into regional
climate policy making as well into GCOY and consequently into the climate negotiations.

Over a thousand young people from more than 140 countries closed out the three-day Climate Change Conference of Youth (COY17) just days before the official opening of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
The Climate Change Conference of Youth is an annual event under the banner of YOUNGO – the Official Youth Constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
Its 17th edition was organized and led by five Egyptian youth organizations with the support of the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports and endorsed by the COP27 President Designate.

This annual program includes thematic camps, grassroots activation events across Egypt’s governorates, policy engagements, career and startup support, and culminates in the Sustainable Egypt Youth Summit. The program is designed to advance Egypt’s youth inclusion in sustainable development, climate action, and green economy transformation.

The Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) Egypt is a flagship initiative led by ACTS
with the endorsement of YOUNGO

The Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) Egypt is a flagship initiative led by ACTS
with the endorsement of YOUNGO and the UNFCCC to bring the annual climate
negotiations to the local and sub-local levels while accounting for the specific
priorities of youth and children groups. This project is done in close coordination
with national and local Egyptian governance bodies and with the support of
regional and international climate organizations to advocate for a context-
specific and youth-inclusive climate action plan.
